"Our bodies can be influenced by daylight's changing spectrum of colour and brightness. So our new light adjusts with the daylight where you live."

Jake Dyson, Chief Engineer

Key Features

Intelligently adjusts. For your time of day, task and age.

The Lightcycle™ task light tracks, senses and personalises light - supporting optimal illumination throughout the day. It adjusts its colour temperature and brightness in relation to your local daylight.

Dyson daylight algorithm

Daylight constantly changes – and it varies in different locations. We developed a unique time, date and GPS-driven algorithm to calculate temperature and brightness of daylight, anywhere in the world.

Dyson Lightcycle task light auto adjust colour spectrum

We can spend up to 90% of our time indoors.3 Yet poor lighting can affect our eyes and even our well-being.

Key Technology

  • X-ray image of Dyson Lightcycle, showing the technology in it's cooling system

    Light quality that lasts decades

Without proper cooling, LEDs can quickly overheat, causing fading and discolouring. The Lightcycle™ task light uses Heat pipe technology to efficiently cool the LEDs, protecting light quality for 60 years.1 This allows it to reliably adjust in colour and brightness.

  • Dyson Lightcycle desk shining light over hand in a dark room

Intelligent optical head. Turns data into dynamic light.

A 32-bit microprocessor continually interprets daylight data, communicating it to the optical driver for dynamic colour tuning. The three warm and three cool LEDs simulate daylight colour temperatures from 2700-6500 kelvin. And with a colour rendering index over 90, the light displays colours very close to daylight.

  • 3D graphic showing Dyson Lightcycle desk motion sensor

    Senses motion, saves energy

Motion sensor switches light on when you're near, and off when you're away for two minutes.

Additional features

  • Mother and son studying under Dyson Lightcycle

Designed to support work and study

The Lightcycle™ task light surpasses the recommended light levels for study3 and aids working conditions by adjusting its colour temperature in relation to your local daylight.

  • Older model using Dyson Lightcycle light at his desk to work

    Auto-corrects brightness for your age

As we get older, our eye muscles weaken and the lenses harden - so we need up to four times more light. The Lightcycle™ task light automatically adjusts to give you the recommended brightness for your age.

  • Smartphone showing Link app with the Lightcycle desk light in the background

    Intelligently adjusts to your life

Personalised light is made possible by the Dyson Link app.4 It continually communicates with the light to adjust for your location and daily routine.

  • Dyson Lightcycle desk light indoors, with a window showing dusk outside

    Auto-adjusts to surrounding light

Ambient light sensor reacts to changes in background light, keeping your space at a constant brightness.

  • Dyson Lightcycle desk light being repositioned

    Precise positioning

3 Axis-Glide motion puts powerful light precisely where you need it, vertically, horizontally and through 360°.

  • Dyson Lightcycle desk light and its integrated USB-C charger

    Integrated USB-C charger

Frees up socket space and provides a convenient charging point on desks and bedside tables.

Pre-set task modes. Choose the recommended light for whatever you're doing.

  • Dyson Lightcycle desk light in a dark room

    Boost mode

For tasks that require extra focus. Boost provides brighter, cooler light for bursts of 20 minutes.

  • Dyson Lightcycle desk light with colour cards to show its lighting precision

    Precision mode

Helps improve visual acuity by emitting a pool of high-intensity light. A CRI (colour rendering index) over 90 means colours are displayed very close to daylight quality.

  • Child working at a table under light from the Dyson Lightcycle desk light

    Study mode

The Lightcycle™ task light surpasses the recommended light levels for studying3 and adjusts its colour temperature in relation to your local daylight.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. The light has functionality without connecting to the app.

There is no need to do this as the copper heat pipe is cool enough to touch at all times.

The LEDs are designed to last for decades1 and so there is no need to replace them.
